OK, let’s deal with the 800lb gorilla in the room. My car still works. I drove from Billings to Bismarck and around the city for five days without issue. Whew! That’s behind me.
I wrote three stories in Bismarck. That was my major accomplishment there. One was for a Freedom Rider I met in Mississippi on my previous journey. I sent it to him today and hope to have it published soon, along with the other two.
The drive from Billings to Bismarck was quite remarkable. The landscapes were something to behold. That included driving through the Badlands (“Mako Sica,” as known by the Lakota people) of North Dakota. That eventually gave way to green flatlands.
I got my haircut in Bismarck (looking for things to write now). I did go to a church on Sunday to talk briefly with the minister and his wife. He was a bit skeptical about who I was and the mission. But one never knows; perhaps I will hear from them if they check out my website.
I decided to detour from Bismarck to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to visit Mt. Rushmore near Rapid City. That should be exciting.
