I became interested in American college football as a teen in Nova Scotia and had a few favorite teams. One was The University of Nebraska in Lincoln. I’m not sure why but perhaps is had something to do with the “fumblerooski” play they ran in a bowl game. Anyway, I paid a visit to the campus and took a few photos. As I walked up to the bell tower to read the inscription, I nodded to a gentleman walking in the opposite direction. When I was finished, I turned around and he was patiently waiting to take a photo. I apologized and we hit up a conversation. Before you know it, he, part Cherokee, was talking about his daughter who was at the school for the summer. It turns out that she, and her younger sister, are adopted from China. I told him that that is where my daughter is from. We talked about the hotel (The White Swan) at which we stayed in Guangzhou and the famous “red couch pictures.” Small world.

While the above may strike you as an anomaly, it is actually much more prevalent than that. At least that has been my experience.

I drove by Uncle Warren’s home. That’s Warren Buffet for those unfamiliar as to where he lives. I walked into the Omaha tourist office to ask what three photos of the city that I should take. I told them I planned on capturing a photo of Berkshire Hathaway’s office. Then, much to by complete surprise, one of the gentlemen put a piece of paper with a picture of a house in front of me. It was Buffet’s home. With the address! Unbelievable.

I grabbed a shot of one of the many murals in the city. It is called the Fertile Ground Mural. Very large and beautiful.

I wrote a bit but did not actively seek out new interview candidates. Counting the days…
